Expanding the industrial, capitalist agenda: Yet more ways for students to do it!

Just came back from a talk from about how to get SFU students to turn their ideas into money. At one point, the speaker appealed to the students’ innate understanding of an eternal truth: that they will supplant big business. What he doesn’t talk about—and what most mentors won’t ever mention in public lectures—is that they will inherit not only the mantle of responsibility but the burden of past misdeeds. The young will inherit power and all the baggage that travels with it.

At any rate, what I learned from the lecture is that Venture Connect, SPARK, and IRAP were three major avenues for students can look into into for aligning (what a great word that “aligning”  is: so neutral, so value-free) their research with industry.
